how to be blister free

I've been the blister queen following just about any long run, so imagine how elated I was when I took part in a ZombieRunner blister clinic and learned their tricks.

Start with this kit.

Your feet should be clean with no lotion or anything on them.

Use an alcohol swab on the area you'll be taping.

Dab on the tincture of benzoin on the area you'll be taping and let it dry.

Cut a strip of the elasticon tape that's longer than the area you'll be covering.

Press it firmly onto your skin, careful not to have any wrinkles.

Trim any excess with scissors.

Coat the edges of the tape with more tincture of benzoin.

Cover the edges with the paper tape.

Powder your feet with the Gold Bond powder.

I use the wool Injiji toe socks -- the long ones, then put on a pair of trail socks over those.

Some people put bag balm all over their feet post-powder and pre-sock, but I haven't tried that yet.

I also used these patches in my shoes for the areas that rub, and they work great.

Pretty much, if you're outdoorsy and active at all, buy your goods through ZombieRunner even if you're not a runner. These products have been tested by Gillian and Don who are experts in all that is outdoor product related, and ZombieRunner has great customer service, too!
